Maine-ly water...

A few more from our first walk through some Maine moments.    I was so inspired as we walked through the town; every turn of the head brought a new view and a new piece of wonder to add to the puzzle.  I was holding hands with my son as we walked so I kept the camera action to a minimum, but I had to hold on to a few of my favorite views.  Later we walked along the shore.  Well, I walked he dove in.  Even with the rain heading our way he wasn’t getting cheated out of his salt-water fix.    Here are some of my favorites.    August 8th 

Submersibles...

Patterns always catch my eye and random patterns in nature are so stunning. The seaweed and lake stones hiding under the water were creating such beautiful images that shimmered with life. It was lovely to look at from above. July 21st

Other people’s gardens, part 4, falling water…

The lovely woman who created this beautiful oasis planted my moon flowers for me. She is a wiz with things that grow and I am going to have to show you her gardens soon, but this post is about her waterfall. We have talked about how cool it would be to put a water feature in our yard. We, apparently, are all talk but our neighbors took action. Isn’t it beautiful? My son was adamant that the frog get his 15 minutes of fame. July 16th

Fish eye view...

I brought the water camera with me to the pool and was ready to take the standard images of the kids swimming, things floating on the water, me being splashed by kids swimming with the things that were floating on the water… but then I had a crazy idea. I took the camera into the pool and held it under the water pointed towards the sky. I love what I got to see. Not all my grand plans work out but this one made me smile. July 15th

Swampy marsh...

After our bird rescue and subsequent drive into the swamplands of New Jersey (it is really beautiful) we decided to take a walk through the wilds of the Great Swamp National Park. OK, so my son and I decided to walk. My husband decided to sit it out in the car because we had forgotten bug spray and it was REALLY hot and muggy: hard to argue with that logic, really.

They have wooden, some faux wooden, walking paths and bird blinds for watchers and want to be watchers. Sometimes you see snakes and other fauna. Lots of flora, too, which you know I like. Two miles and some pesky bug bites later we came back to my comfortable, cool, and unscathed husband with stories of ants building condos in semi-dead trees and a small water snake that was cleverly hidden in the water plants. Actually, if we saw him, maybe he wasn’t so clever. June 26th

At the carwash...

Plans are good, making them come together isn't always easy. I was in the carwash and the machine had just covered the car in a blanket of white foam. It was in that eerie, peaceful quiet before the water jets wash away the bubbles that I noticed them. They looked like diamonds dancing across the foam on the front window. As small bubbles would pop the sunlight would stream through for a second before the spray took their place. The dance was really beautiful and I reached for my camera. Yea, I had it! This was working! Oh no, there was no card! I had stored the cards after the morning’s session… a great plan that is truly a work in progress.

I didn’t give up though. I grabbed a new card and popped it into the camera just in time to see the water slipping and sliding along the windshield. They are handheld and unmetered, but I like them. I hope you do too. April 26th
